Dan Beaumont who is the jewel in the 2008 London disco wave (he just played Ponystep party last weekend and has his Disco Bloodbath party) pointed me in the direction of this fantastic live disco mix made in the Trocadero club in San Francisco in 1980 by Bobby Viteritti. A couple of tracks are standout but especially the first one kind of spacey and more like the new stuff being done by Aeroplane. Apparently "Change - The End" was huge but I for some reason never heard it before, so it's my selection today. FYI - the Aeroplane remix of Circuits by David Rubato is the HOTTEST thing right now - amazing disco sound. But I can't post it cause I only link to other blogs and no one has put it up yet.

Hot Chip remixes Pharcyde on Yermam blog
Ok so the cycles march on and the Yerman blog is showing it. Here is what I noticed.
In 1996 we had a big 60's swing and fancy dress scene in New York. in 2004 it hits back big time in London with the whole burlesque, etc. scene. in 1997/98 there was a huge disco wave in New York that lasted (which was followed by about a year by an accompanying disco house scene) through to about 2001 before electroclash hit big time. There were disco parties all over Shoreditch, at Mother bar, Plastic People, etc. Spring/summer 2008 disco is everywhere again. I predict by the fall, maybe early next year, the late 90s house and disco house will be swinging back. French touch stuff is already getting love.
And now there are some whispers of 90s hip hop/rnb parties coming out. I thought that stuff would not come back for a while, but check out these great rnb-ish remixes by Hot Chip. I love the Pharcyde track as well as the Brand New Heavies, but I'm not sure how they sound to someone who doesn't know the original track. Check out also the Firefly disco-funk track. Excellent.

MGMT vs. Daft Punk on Pretty Much Amazing blog
I was unsure if MGMT were too much cheese pop or really worth playing out but recently I have begun to love them more. I think they are starting to have that effect that Scissor Sisters had in the summer of '04 where all of a sudden their tracks were like magic. Anyway, this is a well done fun mashup of MGMT Time to Pretend with Daft Punk's One More Time (yes that one) that works.

NEW MUSIC - The Vinny Club - Hello (cover of Lionel Ritchie)
I first heard about The Vinny Club over at the Nialler9 blog post talkin 8-bit magic. I heard he had a cover of Hello by Lionel Ritchie and asked him to send it to me. So here you go a unique original tune for the blog. It's so good about half way through - sort of a cross between Kraftwerk/Flying Lizards/8-bit . . . and Lionel Ritchie ;)

D Train – You’re The One For Me [Ulysses82 Ultramagnetic re-cut] on Dilate Choonz
My friends at Dilate Choonz are always on the educated side of music blogs (i.e., they have real knowledge from back in the day) but as of late they are really posting magic. D-Train is one of my all time electro funk favorites, but this re-edit with a rap is tops. Also check out the Piano rave posted the day before.

PNAU- Embrace feat. Ladyhawke (Fred Falke and Miami Horror Remix) on TRashbags KIds
The idea behind this blog is that if you have to dj for the first time, or just can't seem to be the dj you want to be. You can just download the last 15 tracks I've posted and they make you stellar :) This track is already posted all over the web, but it's too awesome to ignore. It's like being on a sunny field about 3 pm where it's warm (but not too hot) and you're looking over the Italian sea and eating brie and chilled peach liquer. It's just sooooooo goood. And it's almost DISCO. And right now DISCO is all!!!

On the Motorway by Metronomy on The Passion of Indie Music
I am sure it is probably not appropriate to post the complete Metronomy album on the web but I am not the one who did it. I just point out what is going on. And whether you buy the album or find it elsewhere, you should definitely check out On the Motorway, a super fast catchy track on the new Metronomy album. Radio Ladio is also awesome, and so is the rest of the album, but On the Motorway has been overlooked I believe.
Radio Ladio is the other track I love and it's been very nicely remixed by Mac 3000 here.
Also, in the whole new disco vein, here is a very special track that Gomma sent me, it's the Christopher Just remix of the new Diskokaine track. It's kind of a driving 80s disco number, but in the middle it's got some sort of 90s house piano bits. Very nice.
