I've been excited about the Aeroplane remix of David Robato's Circuit for some weeks now but then I found this Steve Moore remix on 20 Jazz Funk Greats blog and it's really beautiful (though not quite as dancey as the Aeroplane mix). At the same time I found this great blog which lists fantastic lesser known 80s dance mixes and discovered the Computer Music - Central Unit track and noted how similar it was to the Rubato.Funky Green Tab blog for list (but no downloads) of great 80s stuff.

It's cool but predictable to find musical ideas similar to circuit (an arpeggio, playing a lead) in one or more of the billion records out there, since circuit's structure is made of very basic elements, as the score from the 12" shows it : 4 chords, 2 arpeggios, a bassline and an improvised melody.
