My friends at Dilate Choonz are always on the educated side of music blogs (i.e., they have real knowledge from back in the day) but as of late they are really posting magic. D-Train is one of my all time electro funk favorites, but this re-edit with a rap is tops. Also check out the Piano rave posted the day before.
The idea behind this blog is that if you have to dj for the first time, or just can't seem to be the dj you want to be. You can just download the last 15 tracks I've posted and they make you stellar :) This track is already posted all over the web, but it's too awesome to ignore. It's like being on a sunny field about 3 pm where it's warm (but not too hot) and you're looking over the Italian sea and eating brie and chilled peach liquer. It's just sooooooo goood. And it's almost DISCO. And right now DISCO is all!!!
I am sure it is probably not appropriate to post the complete Metronomy album on the web but I am not the one who did it. I just point out what is going on. And whether you buy the album or find it elsewhere, you should definitely check out On the Motorway, a super fast catchy track on the new Metronomy album. Radio Ladio is also awesome, and so is the rest of the album, but On the Motorway has been overlooked I believe.
Radio Ladio is the other track I love and it's been very nicely remixed by Mac 3000 here.
Also, in the whole new disco vein, here is a very special track that Gomma sent me, it's the Christopher Just remix of the new Diskokaine track. It's kind of a driving 80s disco number, but in the middle it's got some sort of 90s house piano bits. Very nice.
I get sent a lot of stuff from record labels but a lot of it is not good enough to get special mention. I got sent this lovely little remix and though I had put a Pacific track in my dj set a few times I never really paid it enough attention. Now listening to the original and some of the remixes I realize this is really beautiful great music. As the record label describes them "They're kinda like a French disco Beach Boys or ELO. A little like Phoenix."
Simon Lord from Simian and Black Ghosts remixed this song, under his Lord Skywave name. The album, 'Reveries', is out on Half Machine Records on 11th August, with the 12" and download of 'Sunset Blvd' out a week before. I had not listened to this track for maybe 5 years. I just happened to remember I had loved it back in the NY disco days and so I popped it in my bag on Friday night for our new secret disco party. I played it at the very end and it was sooooo good!
I just don't post if I'm not excited about anything and I haven't heard anything in the last few days that gets me. But this Jit is excellent. Sometimes I find jit/booty a bit boring but this mix is excellent and it is split out into tracks you can dj. I like track 4 best, so I let you sample here. The Happy Birthday Blog is generally excellent. You should also cop the bounce track from Bryan Cox.
Been waiting with drippy jaws for this Hoy track by Duke Dumont. It's very good but now that I listen to the other tracks on this post, I think I prefer the Fake Blood -Mars track. But so us the Proxy track good. Check em out.
